Maintenance Assistant Position

House Bill 1276 Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) now requires the following 3 background checks clearances for the adult who is considered the designated supervisor for a minor child.  All clearances are effective August 25, 2015, and are valid for 5 years.

Please see the following quote from the bill as well:

“The designated adult supervisor is required to be in the child’s immediate vicinity at regular intervals during the program.  Immediate Vicinity is defined as ‘an area in which an individual is physically present with a child and can see, hear, direct and assess the activities of the child.’  Regular intervals are not defined by the bill.

Clearance Instructions and links are provided below:

  • Criminal Background Check: can be processed on the PA State Police website at The Background Check requires a $10 payment in the form of a credit card, certified check or money order made payable to the Commonwealth of PA.  Clearance results are usually received on-line instantly.
  • Child Abuse Clearance: Child abuse clearances can be processed on line at Online applicants are required to create an account and can make the $10 payment using a credit card; OR 

Child abuse clearances are available at the DPW website:  The $10 payment is payable to the Department of Public Welfare in the form of a certified check or money order. Credit card payment is not accepted.

  • FBI Federal Criminal History Record:

The applicant must register prior to going to the fingerprint site. Walk in service is allowed but all applicants are required to complete pre-enrollment in the new Universal Enrollment system. Pre-enrollment can be completed online or over the phone. The registration website is available online 24 hours/day, seven days per week at Telephonic registration is available at 1-844-321-2101.

Applicant will pay a fee of $22.60 for the fingerprint service in person at fingerprint location.  Payment can be made using Major Credit Cards as well as Money orders or cashier’s checks payable to IDEMIA
